Meet the Team

  • Georgia Mann

Eva Anderson and I are filming, editing, and sharing a series of videos to educate local preschool teachers and elementary school students on American Sign Language (ASL). The goal is to teach the younger generation about ASL in order to foster a more inclusive community.

  • Ethan Pond

The project that I am working on at the moment is to reduce the waste that disposable signs create when removed from the traffic islands. The signs aren’t allowed to be placed there and I hope by overgrowing the traffic islands with plants, with money coming from business sponsorships, that I can make a difference.

  • Catherine Ruf

For my personal project this year I created this website that you are viewing right now! I noticed that our commission did not have an official page and thought that it would be great to have a platform to show all of our members accomplishments. I want this website to help the community get more involved in our projects. I took most of the photos that are shown on the website, and I connected with our newsletter writer for some of the information you’ve read. If you have any news of events are coming up in Greenwich that we should post on here, let us know in our inbox!

  • Asher Benn

I worked on fundraising for the Greenwich Scholarship Association by conducting a bracelet sale with multiple schools. The Greenwich Scholarship Association is an organization that sends underprivileged Greenwich students to college every year. The FSYC has worked closely with this amazing organization for years and we are always super excited to be able to contribute to the cause.

  • Campbell Officer

  • Grejs Shelcaj

My project is focused on giving AVID students more opportunities to explore careers and getting more help on education from different professionals. Through meetings between AVID students and adults from different fields of professions, opportunities, and advice on different careers/education paths are given.

Alongside FSYC member Campbell Officer, I am working on a composting project for the elementary and middle schools in Greenwich. The purpose of this project is to teach students to get involved with climate problems and spread the positive effects of composting and sustainable practices. This project is designed to combat the extensive disposal of recyclable food waste, as well as to promote the ecological incentives of composting.

It is my second year on the First Selectman’s Youth Commission and I am really enjoying being a leader of a new project this year. The program is supported by school administrators and various youth-serving agencies and departments in the Town of Greenwich.
