Reflecting on their project, they state, “The Junior First Selectman’s Youth Commission is a town body we are developing to unite younger students in Greenwich. By connecting students all over town, we hope to foster a more inclusive and cooperative environment between middle school students.” You can apply to be on the JFSYC here:

  • Middle School Mentors

Middle School Mentors: Created by FSYC member, John Breitfelder, Middle School Mentors seeks to provide invaluable mentorship and social support to students at Eastern, Central, and Western Middle Schools.

High school mentors will engage with mentees in 30-minute, 1-on-1 sessions offered through Zoom. Sessions will be offered monthly or bimonthly, as needed. Mentees will receive academic, athletic, artistic, and/or social support. Sessions will be guided by the unique needs of the mentees. Mentor/Mentee pairs will be developed based on shared interests and skills and mentee feedback will be encouraged throughout the program.

Parents will be connected to the program through email exchanges with mentors. The program is supported by school administrators and various youth agencies and departments in the Town of Greenwich.

  • Links and Logs

Links and Logs: FSYC member Melina Salame leads the project Links and Logs. She describes her project, stating,

“This project is called links and logs because it links student volunteers with businesses and lets these volunteers log their hours as community service. This project serves to connect student volunteers with local businesses in need and these students can help create apps, websites, or social media accounts for the businesses. This would be extremely helpful to the businesses and also a positive way for students to build their skills and utilize their skills in a positive way.”
